Meeting the 1.2M Tree Planting Challenge

Rotary President Ian Riseley has issued a challenge. He is asking every Rotary Club to plant a tree for each of its members between July 1, 2017 and Earth Day, April 22, 2018. How are we going to do this?

The Rotary Way!  We plan. We work together. We find partners. We have fun.

The Plan:  District Governor Shafi asked me to convene a District Environmental Sustainability Committee. As chair, I’m asking three things. First, invite me to come speak at one of your club meetings. Second, consider forming a small environmental sustainability committee in your club. I will help. Third, check out the many ways you can support the 1.2 Million Tree Planting Challenge on the Environmental Sustainability Rotarian Action Group website at https://www.esrag.org/getting-started .

Local or global, for beauty or for food, tree planting is a symbol of Rotary’s commitment to the seeds we plant that produce long after we are gone.

Stay tuned!  I look forward to working with you!
